John "Johnny" Williams Sr., 91 years, died on July 28, 2012 of natural causes. He was born in Honolulu and grew up in Liliha, the son of John Williams and Kealoha Aimoku.
At the age of 16, he started working at McCabe, Hamilton and Renny, Ltd. as a stevedore and retired as a supervisor after 52 years of dedicated service.
John loved playing his ukulele, singing, and Sunday afternoons in the backyard "having a few" with family and friends.
He is survived by his loving wife, Dorothy Jean, daughters, Leatrice Maluhia Kauahi, Bernadette Nalani Williams-Wright, Sandra Kuulei (William Morry) Moskovitz, Louise Kealoha (Howard Harvey) Gerboc, sons, John Williams Jr. and Jeff (Debbie) Williams, 18 grandchildren; 34 great-grandchildren and 5 great-great-grandchildren.
Visitation on Friday, August 10, 2012, 5:00 p.m. at Borthwick Mortuary Mauka Chapel, services to begin at 6:30 p.m. Aloha attire and leis are welcomed.
Our daily stream of life goes on,
but still that vacant chair
recalls the love, the voice, the smile
of the man who once sat there.
