JUANITA B. VINCENT Juanita Beatrice Vincent, 97, died on March 7, 2013 in Yucaipa, California. Juanita B. Vincent was born October 9, 1915 in West Covina, California, and was a resident of Yucaipa, California. Juanita, with her husband Eldon, pioneered and/or pastored churches in Lancaster, Ocean Beach, and Santa Monica, California, Quincy, Massachusetts, and Honolulu, Hawaii. They brought the Lancaster and Ocean Beach churches into the Assemblies of God. In their later years they rescued many churches from closing in several California cities. They were the first appointed Assemblies of God missionaries to Hawaii and founded the central church in Honolulu in 1947, by winning individuals and families to Christ. They also started outstations in other Oahu cities that later flourished into churches. Juanita taught music, English, and many Bible courses in the Aloha Bible Institute which they founded to train men and women throughout the Pacific for ministry. She was an accomplished concert pianist and vibraphonist. She founded and organized Aloha Bookstore, actively participated in many mission trips to Pacific and Asian nations, and gave selflessly of her time as mother, pastor's wife and Bible teacher. She was well known for her cooking and sewing creations. She also became known for her extensive knowledge and insight as a Bible scholar. She supported HELP Pacific, Inc., a missions organization they founded to meet health, educational, and spiritual needs in many Pacific island nations. Aloha Kindergarten and Grade School were also founded to provide Christian childhood education. She obtained a B.A. in Theology with honors in 1937 from L.I.F.E. Bible College, the forerunner of Life Pacific College. She was ordained with the Fourquare Denomination in 1937, then later was ordained with the Assemblies of God. She received her Master's in Theology in 1989 from the California Graduate School of Theology. She was faithful to God's calling for almost 77 years, and was a member of Yucaipa First Assembly her last fourteen years. She is survived by her son, Joel A.Vincent of Yucaipa, California, two daughters: Donna Faith Griffin of Seattle, Washington, and Marilyn Hope of Yucaipa, California, and two grandchildren, Jason Jonathan and Jeramie Joy Griffin. Visitation Monday, March 18, 2~13, at 9:00am followed by the funeral service at 10:00am, both at Yucaipa First Assembly, 12226 2" St, Yucaipa, California. Interment will be at Oakdale Memorial Park 1401 s. Grand Ave, Glendora, California. Arrangements were entrusted to Weaver Mortuary, Beaumont, California
