YOSHIO HAYASHI March 5, 2013 Yoshio (Yoshi) Hayashi, 80, of Honolulu, a retired graphic designer and artist, died at Queen's Medical Center. He was born in Hilo, served in the Korean War, and later attended art school in Chicago, working there for many years before moving to Oahu. He worked for some of Hawaii's largest ad agencies, winning many awards for his graphic design work. Two of his paintings were purchased by The State Foundation on Culture and the Arts. He is survived by wife, Leslie; sisters Sue Ellen, Kathleen, and Ruth; brothers Susumu, Kenneth, Stanley, and Larry; and nieces and nephews. Visitation at 4 PM, services at 5 PM Saturday, March 30 at Makiki Community of Christ, 1666 Mott Smith Drive. Casual attire. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Friends of the Library of Hawaii.
