ANTHONY "TONY" DEL PIANOANTHONY TONY DEL PIANO Tony Del Piano passed peacefully away at home on August 4th, 2014, at the age of 95. Born in Bristol, Rhode Island, Tony saw active duty while serving in the U. S. Navy during WWII. While working at the Boca Raton Hotel in Florida, Tony met his future wife, Island girl Barbara Dorsam, and moved to Hawaii in 1957. He was hired by Roy Kelley whose hotel empire was in its early stages. After retiring as Manager of the Outrigger Prince Kuhio in 1987, Tony continued to spend a few hours each week in the lobby of the Prince Kuhio, and later, the Outrigger on the Beach, greeting former guests and meeting new ones. He continued his weekly appearances until March of 2013. Tony is survived by his wife, Barbara, son Mark (Monica) of Virginia, daughters Monica Campanis of Honolulu, Maile Madariaga (Richard) of California, three grandsons, Anthony, Brian, and Christopher Madariaga, sisters Lucy Grabert of Tennessee, and Terry Proto of Rhode Island. A service and celebration of life will be held at the Outrigger Canoe Club, 2909 Kalakaua Avenue, on Monday, August 18th at 8 a.m. On-site parking is available. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Hospice Hawaii or St. Augustine's By the Sea Catholic Church.
