Melvyn Fumio Shimata, 74, of Aiea, an Army veteran and a retired general contractor, died at home. He was born in Honolulu. He is survived by wife Margaret; sons Melvyn Jr. and Manardie, brothers Rodney and Dennis, and sister Maris Kochiyama. Services: 11 a.m. Tuesday at Kahala Beach. Casual attire.
