On April 10, 2017, guided by the full moon, Roy left us after 91 wonderful years. Most of those were spent in Honolulu, except for a few mid-youth years at the family home in Shekki, Canton, shared with his 12 siblings. In 1950, he charmed Doris Yuen of Hilo into a marriage that lasted 67 years. Their daughter Ina Rae and son-in-law Jefferson Rice live in Sebastopol, CA. Roy's pure and simple approach to life kept him wide-eyed and curious about all things, making him a life-long student of history, nature, electronics, woodworking, photography, horticulture, singing, and painting. Easy going and gentle, he enchanted everyone in his wide circle of family and friends, none more than the dozens who call him their second dad. The quintessential salesman, he could sell a fish swimming lessons. If anything needed fixing, his resourcefulness was unmatched and his quick response to crisis rescued many beings from danger. On the wings of all who love him, he has returned home to a new life.
