Age 103, died at home on August 7, 2016, in Columbia, Maryland. Born in Makawao, Maui, she also lived in Malaekahana and Honolulu. She was predeceased by husband Zenwa Shima, son George Masao Shima, and sister Florence Kiyoko (Gilbert Zenei) Tokuda. She is survived by daughter Irene (George) Whitaker; grandchildren, David Whitaker, Mark (Kelley Schultheis) Whitaker, Alice Shima (Justin) Iwase; great-grandchildren, Lynette Nishioka (Zach) Metz, Jace Iwase, Jayden Iwase, and many nieces and nephews.
