FAMILY PLACED OBITUARY

Gordon Lunalilo Wilcox, Ka Mo’i
Gordon Lunalilo Wilcox, Ka Mo'iGordon Lunalilo Wilcox, Mo'i-o-Hawaii was born on August 12, 1929, the youngest son of Prince Robert Keoua Wilcox and mother Princess Helena Kaleipuanani. His grandfather was Hawaii's first Delegate to the U.S. Congress and Hawaiian Patriot Robert William Kalanihiapo Wilcox and his wife Princess Theresa Owana Kaohelelani Laanui of the Kamehameha Dynasty. He is survived by his only hanai daughter and niece Princess Monica Naahienaena Wilcox of Gold Canyon, Arizona. Blessed with a royal lineage that surpasses all, he descended from the Great Kings and Queens of Hawaii. Most notable was his Great Grandmother, the High Chiefess Elizabeth Kekaaniau Laanui Pratt who was a graduate of the Chief's Children School established in 1839 and confirmed by the Hawaiian Constitution of 1840 as one of Kamehameha's closest relatives eligible to rule. His Grandmother, Princess Theresa, after the death of her only son petitioned the First Circuit Court of the Territory of Hawaii for Guardianship of her son's 5 minor children including his youngest, Lunalilo. On February 12, 1938 she was granted custody but their eldest sister, Helena Salazar was already an adult and had moved out on her own. She immediately hanai, adopted, all five raising their rank, from Grandchildren to her own Children. This is the custom of Hawaiian Royalty. Services will be held at Kawaiahao Church on Thursday July 13, 2017. Visitation/Viewing: 9:00 a.m.; Services: 10:00 a.m. The burial will be held at Hawaiian Memorial Park in Kaneohe at 1:00 pm. All are welcome to attend. ~ Aloha attire and no flowers ~
