After a romantic kiss with his wife of 33 years, Linda Coble, Kirk Matthews lost his fight with lung cancer one year ago today. Kirk was a beloved husband, father, family man, humorous friend, and trusted TV anchorman, who engaged Hawaii with his smile, professionalism, volunteerism, and sincere personality. Instead of a funeral, he had a party after diagnosis, so he could hug hundreds of friends and family Aloha. And it was his choice to serve the community one more time by loaning his body to the John A Burns School of Medicine students, who referred to him as 'their teacher'. As Kirk would always say at the end of his newscasts, "Take Care of Each Other".
Our deepest condolences to the family and friends of the deceased
