MITSUO OSHIKATA
MITSUO OSHIKATAJuly 7, 2017 Mitsuo "Mits" Oshikata, 93, of Honolulu, had two illustrious careers. 26 years (1943 - 1969) in the US Army began as a WWII intelligence officer in Manila and with the Occupation Forces in Japan; as well as in the Korean War. He returned home and spent the next 46 years (1969 - 2015) as a banker for Pacific Savings and Loan Association, American Savings, and Territorial Savings Bank. He loved to golf and fish. Born 1923 in Hilo, Hawaii, Mits graduated from Hilo High School; the Armed Forces Service Language School at Camp Savage; and received a Commission at Ft. Benning Georgia. His wife, Karen, died on January 6, 1986. He is survived by his sister, Harue "Gayle" Ono; daughter, Christina; granddaughter, Jennifer; and great granddaughter, Reiko. Celebration of Life service will be held Monday, July 24, 2017 at Borthwick Mortuary, Mauka Chapel. 10:00 am Private Family Gathering. 10:30 am Visitation. 11:30 am Service. 12 noon Fellowship Luncheon. Casual attire. Mits ashes will be scattered at sea at Punaluu in a private ceremony.
