JOHANNA “JOJO” ELIKOLANI LENCHANKO CORREA
JoJo joined the Lord on July 4, 2017 from her home in Kuli'ou'ou with her husband, children, grandchildren, and family and friends at her side. She was born to John and Angeline (Kea) Lenchanko on May 15, 1943 in Kalihi Valley where she was raised with her 17 siblings. She attended St. Theresa school and graduated from St. Francis High School in 1961 where she served as student body president. She attended the University of San Francisco while working at the telephone co. This time in her life was filled with many wonderful memories and friendships that would last the test of time, the best of which in finding her husband to be Edward "Butch" Correa in 1963. They married home in Hawaii in 1966 then headed to Fort Knox Kentucky where the first two of their five children were welcomed. Returning to Hawaii in 1970 they replanted their roots in Kuli'ou'ou, raised their five children, and enjoyed 51 years of marriage. JoJo held various jobs, particularly enjoying her work with community while at the Hawai'i State Legislature and the Honolulu City Council. Her true joys were being with family, serving the church, and sharing her love of music. JoJo was an active and faithful member of Holy Trinity Church where she served on several ministries, the HTC neocatecumenal way community and the Kuli'ou'ou Rosary Group. She built her life on faith, hope and love and provided that space for everyone she encountered. JoJo will always be our loving wife, mother, tutu and friend. Her unwavering faith, nurturing nature and soulful voice will inspire us always. She is survived by her husband Butch, sons Edward III (Lyn), John (Sandra), Michael, and daughters Angela (Meki) and Mary-Lindsey "Kaliko"; 10 grand-children: Kainoa, Kala'e, Tuan, Kumakani, Lanakila, Lexi, Kalikolani, Kaiohu, Francesca and Makamae; Lenchanko brothers: John "Sabu" (Marion), Herbert, Bernard (Irene), Michael, Robert "Mano" (Nora), Felix, Anthony; Sisters: Geraldine Camara, Katherine (John) Frederick, children of Isadora Tai(d), Rosalie Lenchanko, Elizabeth (Clinton) Coelho, Monica Torres, Tanya (Guy) Takamiya; treasured Correa brothers and sisters; 97 nieces and nephews whom she truly loved, the loving Kea and Reeves 'ohana, and many beloved friends. Celebration of Life on Friday August 11, Holy Trinity Catholic Church. Viewing 8:00 am. Services 10:30. Mass 11:30. Burial 2:00 Hawai'i State Veterans Cemetery Kaneohe.
