Mitsue Takata Machida
Former self employed seamstress, passed away at home on March 4, 2017. Born in Waialua, on April 5, 1921, her family moved to Wahiawa when she was an infant. She completed public school up to the 8th grade, after which she attended a dressmaking school at age 14. She went on to become a dressmaking teacher at age 16. At age 18, she moved out on her own and started her business as a seamstress, in Wahiawa, eventually retiring after working for over 50 years. The majority of her customers were the wives of prominent naval officers. Over the years, she had developed an outstanding reputation for producing women's clothing of exceptional quality. She was extremely disciplined, driven, honest, unpretentious, and compassionate. She was a supportive wife, caring mother, and a wonderful person for all to emulate. She was preceded in death by her husband, Michael T. Machida, and survived by her son Eric (Julene), and grand- children Erica, and Myles. Visitation at 9:30am, on Saturday, April 29, at Mililani Memorial Park, Makai Chapel. Service at 10:30am.
