Dwight Akita of Kalaheo, Hawai'i passed away at the age of 72 on November 27, 2016 at home. Born on August 3, 1944 in Waimea, he was an U.S. Army Veteran and fire-man. He is survived by his wife, Audrey Akita; sons, Dwight (Lisa) Akita of Kalaheo, Kimo (Karen) Akita of Kalaheo, Kevin (Julie) Akita of Kalaheo; eight grandchildren, Sandra, Karlee, Seth, Kash, Hunter, Keoni, Teivyn, and Taeley; brothers, Dean (Youngie) Akita of California, Dana (Marjorie) Akita of Lawai, and Darick (Maxine) Akita of Kekaha; sister, Adelaide (Ray) Emura of Kekaha; and numerous uncles, aunts, nieces, nephews, and cousins. Memorial Services will be held at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints in Kekaha on Saturday, December 17, 2016. Visitation will be at 9 a.m. with services at 11 a.m. Casual attire. Arrangements were handled by Garden Island Mortuary, Ltd.

Margaret Elizabeth AndersonJuly 16, 1935 - November 5, 2016 Glendale California native Margaret (Peggy) Elizabeth Anderson has passed away due to heart failure. She was 81 and passed peacefully on November 5, 2016 in Woodland Hills. She was born at Glendale Sanitarium and Hospital to Joseph and Margaret Morton on July 16, 1935, had an older brother, Joseph Jr., and a younger brother, Bradley. After graduating from Whittier High School in 1953, she went on to earn an A.A. degree in Home Economics from Fullerton Junior College and a B.A. degree in Education from Los Angeles State College. Receiving her teaching credential, she taught at West Covina Junior High School from 1961 to 1964. While teaching, she met and married James Grant Anderson and in 1964 they had a son, Eric. After James completed seminary in 1965, their new family moved from southern California to Lahaina, Maui where James served as pastor at Lahaina Methodist Church and Peggy worked at Luana's Originals, a clothing store, as an assistant manager. She was the third generation of her family to live in Hawaii; her grandparents had lived there as missionaries when her mother was a child decades earlier. In 1969 their family moved to Aiea, Oahu and Peggy began her work with the University of Hawaii Extension Service, rising to the position of Coordinator of Community Education. She received her Masters degree in Educational Communications and Technology from the University of Hawaii in 1978, and taught courses in television production, merchandising and retail. After the high school graduation of her son in 1983, she moved to San Diego and began a varied career that encompassed her interests in fashion, crafts, business and education. Her final place of employment was at the French Hand Laundry in Pasadena, where she worked directly with owner Susan McManigal on the alteration and restoration of rare and vintage clothing and fabrics. A resident of Canoga Park for 26 years, she retired in 2015. She is survived by her son Eric, her brother Joseph, and a cherished circle of friends, nephews and nieces. A memorial service was held at First United Methodist Church of Canoga Park, 22700 Sherman Way, West Hills, CA 91307, on Monday, December 5.

Helene Leilani Corenevsky (Pa)& Florence Leilani Kaloi, she was a graduate of Molokai High School, class of 1960. She worked as a lunch clerk for the DOE at Waianae Elementary until she retired. While working and well into her retirement; she took pride with raising her grandchildren and great grandsons. Helene is survived by her four daughters; Michelle, Tasha (Lance), Nicole (DJ) & Shantell Larita (Sean); eight grandchildren, Felicia, Garreth, Samantha, Michaela, Shaunna, Cecilli, Summer & Zoie; two great grandchildren, Layzen & Laytyn Maae; sisters, Lorraine (Kuulei) Soriano & Bernice (Nalani) Hose; cousins, nieces & nephews. Helene is preceded in death by her father David, mother Florence, brothers, David Pa III, Conrad Pa Sr., Milton & sister Harriet. Lorraine Santschi DoveLorraine Santschi Dove passed away peacefully on November 19, 2016 in her 100th year. Lorraine was born in Chicago and was attracted to dance at an early age. She studied at the acclaimed Merriel Abbott School of Dance performing in London, Paris, New York and was featured at the Empire Room, Palmer House, Chicago. Lorraine relocated to Honolulu in 1950 at the urging of fellow Merriel Abbott dancer, Jo Flanders, who was associated with the Punahou Dance School. Lorraine went on to seven starring roles both in song and dance at Diamond Head Theatre from Oklahoma to South Pacific. Lorraine became a board member of Honolulu Theatre for Youth and retired as Managing Director. She was active in many community activities until she and husband, Harry Dove, moved to Waimea, Hawaii. Lorraine assisted Richard Smart in establishing the Kahilu Theatre Guild. Dance and theatre remained the love of her professional life. On her return to Honolulu, she maintained her cultural interests, community activities, and was an active member of St. Clements Episcopal Church in Makiki. "Who do I tell myself I am? I am someone grateful for the experiences and even the challenges I've had-----and for the opportunity to keep learning -----and to contribute." Lorraine is survived by Mary Dove Bogust (Chris) and Billy Dove (Irene), 2 grandchildren and lifelong friend, Neva Rego, and many other friends. A private burial is planned.
